March News 2025

It’s not only moving that creates new starting points. Sometimes all it takes is a subtle shift in perspective, an opening of the mind, an intentional pause and reset, or a new route to start to see new options and new possibilities.

It is nearly spring. We have moved our clocks forward, awakening a desire to mobilize and spring into action, much like the wiggling worms beneath the snow. Yet, the thick blankets of snow linger, and the lakes remain frozen. It is not quite time yet.

This transition from winter to spring invites us to pause amidst the chaos of planning, cleaning, and creating. Like the season, we are not fully there yet, and in this moment, we find strength in stillness.

This powerful pause opens a space for self-awareness, emotional understanding, and new possibilities to flow. In Educational Kinesthettics, we call this the integrated low-gear state—an elusive sanctuary we strive to access. In this calm, tensions release, and we can truly be present, savoring the gifts of the moment.

Brain Gym® movements provide tools for tuning into our bodies and reducing stress, helping us feel safe and connected as we explore new horizons, shifting our perspective and opening up to new learning.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended this year’s Annual General Meeting; it ushered in a bright start to 2025. Your trust and unwavering support empower and motivate us.

Our Annual General Meeting took place last February 11th, 2025

“Dana Luebke opened the meeting with some reflections on the Year of the Wood Dragon –combing the Fire qualities of passion and relationship with the Wood qualities of growth and transformation offering the possibility of transformation through love, something our whole world needs.

Sonya Sommerville updated us on our strategic plan. Our main project has been improving the website, adding a page for Movement Facilitators and a section for the general public, including specific pages for children, educators and seniors. Progress has been slow, but the Movement Facilitators page is up and running.

We are making progress on being able to distribute manuals in Canada, becoming an affiliate of Breakthroughs International so we can control licensing and royalties within Canada, and plans for reviving the Canadian Summer Institute.

Lisa Marcovici is working on a potential collaboration with Akamai University to develop Bachelor, Masters and PHD programs in bioenergetic wellness which would allow students to specialize in Educational Kinesthetics, or other modalities through the university.

Dana Luebke and Céline Bellemare in Canada, Minaz Ajani in India, and Noraini Mahmood from Singapore have been collaborating via zoom to develop a movement program for seniors that could be available worldwide with cultural adaptations.

Céline Bellemare’s Treasurer’s report showed a healthy balance in our bank account, partially due to the slowdown in work on the website. Our paid memberships have dropped. We discussed the idea of instructors offering a small discount on courses to members, or including new student membership, ideas some of us have already employed.

Joanne Smyth shared highlights of last year’s Meetups and themes for this year, as well as an invitation to members to share a modality in which you are trained.

The membership elected to continue with the present board of directors. Movement Facilitator Sumita Mendiratta asked if it was possible to join the board (as a Movement Facilitator). Our bylaws specify that board members must be Professional Members (Licensed Brain Gym® Consultants). However, the board is allowed to appoint advisors to the board and can also vote at a meeting to grant voting rights to an advisor at a meeting. The board will discuss this further.

We celebrated and closed the meeting with the Integrated Movements for Transformation and Love.
